OUR MISSION
Living Beyond Our Dreams (“LBOD”) Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the long term success of families led by single mothers overcoming substance abuse issues.
LBOD Foundation seeks to restore strong and positive family relationships which are often destroyed by parental substance abuse. LBOD Foundation empowers each of its families through a series of initiatives aimed at building predictability, good communication, emphasizing the importance of quality time and team work, and building strong connections to the communities in which our families live and work.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Nearly 9 million children live with at least one parent who has a substance use disorder, which is more than 12 percent of all children in the United States (Lipari & Van Horn, 2017). In the spring of 1992, during America’s “crack epidemic,” Latiera was born to this statistic. The oldest of her mother’s 4 girls, Latiera and her sisters walked with their mother through the darkest of times and experienced the many horrors of addiction from homelessness, food insecurity, extreme poverty, and domestic violence to name a few. By the grace of God, their story did not end there. When Latiera was 13 years old her prayers for her mother’s deliverance were answered. After over 20 years of addiction to crack cocaine, Latiera’s mother walked into a Narcotics Anonymous meeting and changed the trajectory of their lives forever. It is this deeply personal testimony that birthed Living Beyond Our Dreams Foundation and fuels Latiera’s passion to serve families like hers who, like theirs, had been impacted by the traumas of addiction. Today, Latiera is a follower of Christ, wife, lawyer, former big law lawyer, speaker, author and chain breaker. Latiera is on a mission to help as many families as possible led by single mothers overcoming substance abuse disorder to defy the odds, find hope, experience the “exceeding and abundant” nature of God’s love, and redefine success for themselves.

OUR VISION
At LBOD Foundation, we believe that a strong, healthy, and healed family unit is the key to the respective family members defying the negative odds associated with their demographic and “living beyond their dreams.”
